United Way of Central Jersey teams up with the IRS and community partners each year to provide free tax services through the United Way Income Tax Assistance Program. Volunteers will prepare returns at one or more of our many locations in Middlesex County.
For the 2019 filing season just ended, United Way of Central Jersey saved residents over $700,000 dollars in tax preparation costs through free, qualified tax preparation. According to the IRS, United Way and its partners are leading providers of volunteer income tax assistance in New Jersey.
"This service is aimed at low and moderate income taxpayers," said Gloria Aftanski, President of United Way of Central Jersey. "For the 2019 filing season, over $3,160,000 was returned to residents of the community in the form of tax credits and refunds."
The IRS has selected United Way to direct a coalition of community partners in order to increase the reach of the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program.
