Volunteer Advocate Program
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Middlesex County Center for Empowerment! Join the anti-sexual violence movement and learn how to support survivors of sexual violence in Middlesex County by volunteering for our Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate Program.
Confidential Sexual Violence Advocates (CSVAs) are trained to answer the 24-hour hotline and accompany survivors to forensic examinations, police stations, and court. CSVAs provide emotional support, information, and referrals to survivors and their loved ones to help them understand their rights and what options and resources are available to them.
The Center for Empowerment provides a free 40+ hour training for those age 18 and over who are interested in becoming an advocate. No experience is necessary, and bilingual individuals are encouraged to apply. Volunteers must live in or near Middlesex County, complete a background check, and have their own reliable transportation and cell phone. If you are interested in volunteering, fill out our volunteer application at this link. For more information about the Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate program, call us at 732-321-1189 ext. 321 or email the Advocate Coordinator at advocate@co.middlesex.nj.us
