Description

Reading to Children from an early age helps prepare them for school. 60% of the 3-5 year olds growing up in low income families do not have school readiness skills by the time they get to kindergarten. Children who enter kindergarten unprepared are likely to be left behind in first grade, remain behind in third grade and likely to drop out of school.

You can be part of the Solution! You can help get a child school ready by saying YES to the United Way Reading Mentor Program.

United Way has an arrangement with the Acelero Headstart Centers for volunteers to read to 3-5 year old children.
