First Reformed Church, New Brunswick

Who We Are

We are an open and affirming Christian church, which has been at this location since the early 1700's. We provide a variety of opportunities to serve the needy and the community at large through our programming: House of Manna - A Family Feeding Program, the Men's Winter Shelter, a free Lunchtime Recital Series, and the support of the Hall Education Fund. We are always seeking new ways to touch the lives of people. In general, our volunteer opportunities revolve around these four general areas, although we do have other special events at which we require some outside support. These events will be posted as they come about.

What We Do

?A community of people united in Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to worship and follow God?s call by: ?Expressing God's love as an open and affirming Christian community, ?Nurturing spiritual growth, including those with special needs, ?Offering service and assistance to the needy, and ?Engaging in inter-religious dialogue for peace and understanding.? We are the oldest organized church in New Brunswick, one which has taken part in the history of building this small city. Our roots connect us with the earliest settlers of this region. Our buildings are on the National Historic Registry, and their upkeep is quite an undertaking. However, even though we are historic, our vision is to develop the usage of our buildings in such a way that they are viable and a gathering place for many diverse people and groups. We not only worship here, but we serve to be a home to many community organizations from: singing ensembles, martial arts classes, Latino-Hispanic cultural classes, and food support for those economically challenged, and even a co-operative nursery school.
