Volunteers Needed to help with Food Distribution
Up to 1,500 Middlesex County residents will be provided with emergency food supplies, on a first come first serve basis, to ease some of the financial burden created by the Coronavirus pandemic.
The event is a partnership between Middlesex County, MCFOODS, Community Food Bank of NJ and Novo Nordisk.
Volunteers will assist with loading emergency food boxes and produce items into the trunks of vehicles as they drive through. Volunteers should be prepared to lift packages weighing between 20 and 40 pounds.
Arrival time is 7:30 am. A light breakfast will be provided by the Community Food Bank of NJ and there will be a volunteer meeting at 8:00 am to provide an overview of the event and volunteer responsibilities and assignments.
The actual distribution will begin at 9:30 am (or sooner). Distribution should wrap up within a couple of hours and cleanup will begin. Volunteers should be available for the duration of the event which should conclude by 2:00 pm. The event is rain or shine, please dress accordingly. Rain ponchos will be available. Please bring personal safety masks and gloves.
There will be overlap of volunteers so that you may take breaks to visit the restroom facility and volunteer tent where a light lunch will be provided by Novo Nordisk.
Please indicate if you are Spanish speaking as you may be able to assist in the registration area. The registration process will consist of:
Confirm NJ residency (ID, NJ Drivers’ License, Utility bill with name and address)
- Confirm number of family members in household
- Check vehicle with glass marker
Please be sure to complete a volunteer application. Minors of 16 or older are welcome to participate; however, a parent consent form must also be completed.
