Martin Luther King Day of Service in Central Jersey! 

What: Books can stimulate verbal interaction with young children that increases brain development, literacy skills and a love of books. Volunteering as a Reading Mentor can help young children develop the skills they need to succeed in school.

Location: United Way of Central Jersey, 32 Ford Avenue, Milltown, NJ 08850

Plan of Action:

Volunteers will meet at United Way at 9:00am to perform the following tasks:

Breakfast training: Prep to read in a way that promotes verbal interaction with young children

Receive route map to John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Jamesburg

Arrive at school at 10:30 am to Distribute Literacy Kits, engage & Read to First Grade classes

RESTRICTIONS: Ages 18 & over
