Who We Are
The New Jersey State House has been home to the Legislative and Executive branches of State Government since 1792. We have over 30,000 visitors walk in the footsteps of Abraham Lincoln and Woodrow Wilson to see democracy in action and to learn about New Jersey's rich history!
What We Do
Love History? Sharing Knowledge? Volunteer Here! Our guides are a diverse group of professionals, retired educators, business owners, students and homemakers who share a love of history, an interest in politics and government, and a desire to teach others about their state.
In 1991, a change in the law directed the Office of Legislative Services to take responsibility for providing tours of the State House. The State House Tour Office was created. Today we work with volunteers to welcome fellow citizens to the seat of State government and show, in one hour guided tours, what happens here while providing a bit of history of the @1792 complex.
